After dropping off some of the men from Arcare Helensvale at the local Men’s Shed, the real adventure began for our other clients!
We drove along the spit hoping to spot some dolphins frolicking in the water but had no luck. As we continued to drive along the beach, we all spent a great time admiring the beautifully peaceful waters, people fishing, walking, jogging and just enjoying life.
Everyone noticed there were so many boats on the water and people jet skiing too.
We eventually left the spit, passed by the famous Versace hotel and drove straight into Surfers Paradise – the hub of Gold Coast.
There’s always something going at Surfers Paradise and we definitely met and saw some interesting characters along the way.
We saw a big dog perched on the back of a bicycle riding along with his owner with his big, fluffy ears flapping in the wind.
We saw another person on a skateboard tethered to his staffy zooming through the crowds. Amazingly, no one was bowled over! The dog and his owner were surely very skillful at maneuvering.
Further along our journey through Broadbeach, we stopped and met a local gentleman named Brian who had with him a wild Magpie on his hand. He was the modern-day piped piper of birds, because when he whistled the other wild birds came to him to feed!
Out of Surfers we drove, heading back through Chevron Island only to see a man walking his cat. Not something you see every day, that’s for sure!
It was wonderful seeing so many people out and about enjoying Gold Coast’s beautiful sunshine and nature.
As our scenic drive came to an end, there was only one thing left to do. And that was to eat a 60-cent soft serve from Maccas. The clients all agreed that the ice cream was the best highlight of their day and it was a great way to end such an eventful, lovely and adventurous morning.
