The sun was shining and you could see the clear, blue skies at Arcare Parkinson. You could also smell the delicious aroma of smoky, grilled sausages.
It was around lunchtime when clients Yvonne and Geraldine donned their colourful aprons and hats to cook some sausages for everyone.
As they were firing up the barbie, they sipped on their lemonade and concentrated on getting those sausages golden brown.
You can just see the look of intense concentration on their faces!
They also shared a few stories as they cooked.
Yvonne explained that she never really cooked up the barbecue and it was always her husband who did all the outdoor cooking. So for her, this was a first!
“I love helping to cook the monthly BBQ,” Geraldine commented.
Cooking brings about many benefits for our clients at Parkinson. We always encourage them to try something new and to try it for themselves.
Cooking also activates their senses, triggers happy memories of being in the kitchen and encourages social bonding with others and self-expression.
It was truly a beautiful day to be outside.
