When a group from the Glenhaven Community took a trip to Ebenezer, a small country town in New South Wales, they had no idea of the significance the area had for Chris.
Ebenezer is home to the oldest church in Australia, which was established in 1809. The local school was run out of the church.
The community now use the church to serve Devonshire tea and scones in the beautiful gardens located on the site. There is also a cemetery located on the grounds.
While looking around the historic buildings of Ebenezer, Chris mentioned that his wife’s family were one of the first families to live there back in the early 1800s. The family were farmers and had been buried at the church.
The group went on a mission to locate some of his wife’s relatives’ graves so that he could pay his respects.
Chris had not visited the area in over 20 years and commented that it meant a lot to him to be back.
