The Arcare Sanctuary Manors Community has recently welcomed Trish Llewelyn as a resident.
Trish has had a wonderful life with many opportunities and she shared some of her moments with us recently. It was a Saturday afternoon and along with other residents, Trish was watching the beautiful André Rieu DVD and reminiscing about her travels as she watched his European concert featuring talented singers, dancers, and an orchestra.
Her conversation was just inspirational, happily sharing her stories of being an international mature aged nanny in Canada. Her job was to care for two little daughters of a highly professional medical couple who had amazing careers and wanted someone mature to care for and nurture their children.
Trish excelled at this after rearing four of her own children to adulthood, and soon became deeply rooted into their family culture and trappings of success. First class travel, trips abroad, art galleries, fine dining and meeting many educated and affluent people. Her opportunity came at a time when her personal life had suddenly changed- she was going through a divorce and her children had grown up. Destiny took its hand when she saw an advertisement in a Brisbane newspaper and from there she was offered this position on the other side of the world.
She said it was a big decision to take the job but she felt she needed to start fresh and was willing to give it a go and help these people rear their children. She soon became part of their family then, and still now after many years. She returned home after four years of service in time for own son’s wedding.
She repeated often during the time we shared together watching the concert with the other residents that life has given her many wonderful opportunities and she has loved every moment of it.
We loved hearing her stories, and most of all, I loved seeing her big smile.
She is now home with us here at Arcare Sanctuary Manors, a place where we all can share stories of our lives and journeys on a regular basis.
