Aged Care Resident Profiles » Neville’s musical talents

Neville Fernandez moved into the Arcare Keysborough community in May 2019.
Being a religious man, Neville was comforted to be warmly welcomed into the large church community at Arcare Keysborough after moving in, and much to his surprise, Neville discovered that there were other members from his parish already residing within the community. These newfound connections helped Neville feel at home almost straight away.
For many years, Neville was the Choir Master at Resurrection and St. Anthony’s Parish and he was well known and respected within the local community. After welcoming Neville into the congregation at Arcare Keysborough, the church group encouraged Neville to lead the worship services with his beautiful hymn singing, recognising his years of experience and skill. However it didn’t take long for the community to also discover that Neville had profound musical talents on the keyboard, after they asked him if he could fill in one day.
This year as entertainers haven’t been able to visit during lockdown, the lifestyle team have enlisted the help and skills of Neville to entertain the community during Happy Hour, as well as during his regular church services.
“Singing is not just about enjoying it yourself, but to bring joy to others.” Neville said.
