When the school children from Peregian Springs Primary visit our clients at Arcare Peregian Springs, you just know it’s going to be a good day.
The grade two and three students regularly visit our clients. Sometimes it can even get a little noisy with all the chit chat and the excitement.
But everyone always has a great time, you can just see it on their faces with their big smiles.
By bringing together two very different age groups, we are able to create a bond and friendship through the regular intergenerational visits.
By inviting the school students, we are also bridging the gap between any stereotypes or misconceptions people have of aged care.
Have a look at the video below. From it you’ll be able to tell that the students themselves also benefit from the intergenerational interactions.
Everyone is engaged and interested, and in the end, they can share their common interests and build genuine friendships.
We believe that giving the old and the young opportunities to interact is very meaningful to all.
Whether it’s creating relationships and emotional connections, the most important part of it is being able to enjoy the conversations and the laughs together.
