An Arcare Cook Off

While lockdown has been difficult on many of us, this month, the Arcare Templestowe community implemented a fun resident suggestion, that helped lift spirits and bring a smile to the faces of many.

After hearing, chef, Josh and lifestyle coordinator, Kerryn both claim that they make the best vanilla slice, the community were incredibly keen to see and taste the ‘proof in their pudding’. One resident suggested to lifestyle that they host a cooking competition between the pair called, the Arcare Cook Off.

The competition was held in Templestowe’s large foyer area to ensure that as many residents as possible could attend and enjoy.

Josh and Kerryn narrated the steps of their recipe for the onlooking residents, as they mixed, whipped and layered their slices. The foyer echoed with the laughter and chatter from the residents, as they enjoyed watching the fun banter between the two team members.

As vanilla slice can take awhile to set properly, both Josh and Kerryn whipped out slices that they had prepared earlier, for the ultimate taste test. Residents took their time scoring and discussing the slices amongst themselves, before the votes were tallied up and Kerryn was crowned the winner.

Although Kerryn has won bragging rights for this month, the Arcare Templestowe community are keen to watch Kerryn and Josh face off again next month in another cooking challenge.
