These days Dawn has difficulty in articulating her thoughts and wishes but despite this hurdle she is still a friendly smiling face who loves to chat and have a giggle with her team members and clients at Arcare Malvern East.
Dawn has a love of horses, line dancing and country and western music.
Dawn’s daughter Cheryl speaks of the special relationship with her mother who is like a best friend.
Her favourite thing to do with her mother was go for long walks and chat about the world, relationships and their problems.
Dawn has always had a love for the outdoors and was quite an active person before she became wheelchair bound.
She fondly remembers days during school years where she would ride her horse on the beach.
Being around horses was in her blood as her parents were both involved in the racing industry.
During her teens, Dawn enjoyed being a leader in her local Brownies.
She also had a passion for music; she sang and event learnt to play the ukulele.
Dawn worked as an OH&S inspector and after retirement found a new love: line dancing, which she combined with her love for country and western music.
She traveled all over Victoria through many line dancing events and fully immersed herself in that world.
Dawn still enjoys listening to her favourite country and western songs, and also enjoys heading on scenic bus trips and social events with her friends in the Malvern East Community.
