First on board the Gold Coast City Ferries

On a beautiful Gold Coast morning in June, clients from Arcare Hope Island and Arcare Sanctuary Manors become the first aged care clients to use the new ferry.

Our ferry group excursion commenced at the Runaway Bay Marina and over the next hour, our host enlightened our clients with highlights of the Broadwater where the rich and famous live.

Gold Coast City Ferries launched Gold Coast’s first privately owned on-demand ferry service in February 2019 with all safety precautions being met.

Clients stated they loved the peace and tranquility on the water.

Hope Island client, Chris Sanders served as a Lieutenant Commander in the Australian Navy where he served on the Naval Ships HAMS Sydney and Melbourne.

Chris stated that it was so peaceful on the water and he was able to take the time to reflect on his memories on the navy ships.

Our next adventure will be taking on the Evening City Lights Excursion of Surfers Paradise. The Cruise will last around 1 ½ hours, with wine and cheese being served to top the evening off.

The vessel called “Doris” is fully enclosed with large tinted windows. She was built using aluminium with what is known as a cathedral styled hull.

This design makes the vessel extremely stable and easy to handle in most weather conditions. She is powered by two 200 hp outboard engines.

Doris is also one of the first vessels on the Gold Coast to meet the new standards of disability and disabled access compliance with 2 wheelchair mobile device spaces and a convenient loading ramp.
