Indian Independence Day at Arcare Nirvana

The community at Arcare Nirvana recognised and celebrated Indian Independence Day on Thursday 15th August.

Lifestyle coordinator, Delia said, “Many of our team members here, have an Indian heritage, so we felt it was important to recognise this important occasion within our community.”

Clients and team members were encourages to dress up in traditional Indian attire for the day. Many team members assisted clients with their outfits, to ensure authenticity, with many bringing in items from their own wardrobes for clients to wear.

“The team members assisting clients with their Indian attire, really helped our clients feel involved in the day.” Delia said.

Bright colours and sparkly ensembles could be seen flowing throughout the residence for the day. Indian music was also played for everyone to enjoy during lunch and dinner.

Registered nurse, Manny made the day extra special, by hosting a cooking demonstration of a traditional Indian snack for everyone to watch.

Clients and team members then enjoyed an afternoon tea together, eating the snacks cooked by Manny and drinking, traditional mango lassi.
