Jessica is in Year 6 student living in the local Caulfield area.
Jessica had big plans to celebrate her Bat Mitzvah this year, however when it became apparent that she wouldn’t be able to hold her party due to COVID-19, Jessica wanted to find a meaningful way to celebrate the occasion.
Jessica chose to reach out to local charity, Our Kitchen Table, whose mission is to spread kindness and make a difference to the lives of people in need through craft related activities.
Partnering with Our Kitchen Table and enlisting the help of her friends, Jessica started work on a create Bat Mitzvah project that would have a positive impact on the Arcare Caulfield community.
As the Arcare Caulfield community had been in a preventative lockdown for months, Jessica thought that the residents at Arcare Caulfield would appreciate a thoughtful gift from her and her friends.
Each of Jessica’s friends received a Bat Mitzvah party pack, filled with all the products needed to make a terrarium. Jessica ran several Zoom workshops for her friends to join and follow along. Each of the girls made a terrarium with a personalised message for the residents of Arcare.
In late October, Jessica hand-delivered her beautiful creations to the doorstep of the Arcare Caulfield residence, where both Jessica and the residents couldn’t wipe the smiles off their faces.
“It was really meaningful for Jessica, when she delivered the terrariums to Arcare and saw how happy it made the residents.” Jessica’s mum, Dannyella said.
