June & Allan’s 71st Valentine’s Day

June and Allan Broadstock reside at Arcare Cheltenham and have been married for 70 years. Today marks their 71st Valentine’s Day together!

The couple met each other in their teenage years whilst they were both working at Groves McVitty in Melbourne CBD. June worked at the firm as a shorthand, whilst Allan packed grocery and alcohol orders.

When Allan turned 18, he was called up to join the Airforce and sent to Papa New Guinea. During this time, June and Allan remained in contact by writing letters to each other. In her letters, June used to include the Saturday Night Paper which won over Allan’s heart. “Allan loved the Saturday Night Paper because it contained lots of exciting sports news!” said June.

Three years later, Allan returned home from the Airforce and reunited with June. Shortly after, they married at the Anglican Church in South Yarra. June and Allan were both members of the Anglican Church, and their wedding was a gift from the Minister!

Throughout their years together, June and Allan have enjoyed spending their time travelling and going on long hikes on beaches and up mountains.

June and Allan have two daughters, one son, six grandchildren and one great-grand child.

Happy Valentine’s

Happy Valentine’s to all in the Cheltenham Community.

Families, team members, clients and friends enjoyed taking part in the celebration; and getting their photos taken with the props and costumes.
