Pink Ribbon Day at Arcare Keysborough
October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. To raise awareness and show support for the cause, the Arcare Keysborough community decided to host a Pink Ribbon Day event.
The community hosted a scrumptious high tea and concert experience for clients, team members and family member to enjoy. Everyone who attended the event, was encouraged to dress in all pink and make a gold coin donated to the Cancer Council.
The delicious high tea spread was prepared and baked fresh onsite by chef, Shane and the team in the kitchen. The wonderful and favourite, Jan Masson once again, serenaded the community and had everyone up on their feet dancing.
The help raise additional funds for the Cancer Council, the lifestyle team also organised a large hamper raffle. A big thank-you to community member, Danielle who generously donated the products for the hamper raffle.
The Keysborough community were honoured to have special guest and cancer survivor, Judy Clancy present at the event. Judy is a 22-year survivor of breast cancer, and she came proudly dressed in her gear to support the cause.
When living in Tasmania, Judy started a cancer support group, which she ran for eight years. She lived in Beaconsfield and held the group in the local hospital. For five years, Judy also participated in the Relay for Life in Launceston.
Judy has risen above the adversity that she has faced, and nothing was going to hold her back. Judy enjoyed participating and dancing in her wheelchair throughout the entire concert; she was not going to miss out, she is a true survivor. Due to her health, Judy couldn’t stay long at the event, however the lifestyle team managed to take a happy snap of her and her dedicated carer, Peter before she had to retire.
Arcare Keysborough’s Pink Ribbon Day fundraiser a huge success, with the community raising $120 to donate to the Cancer Council and breast cancer research. A big thank-you to all of the wonderful clients, team members, friends and family, who made a donation to this very worthy cause.
