During the month of October, the Arcare Burnside community were involved in Bandanna Day.
National Bandanna Day is the major fundraising and awareness campaign that helps support young people affected by cancer.
Clients and team members at Arcare Burnside proudly wore colourful bandannas to raise awareness and help raise money for the worthy cause.
“The bandannas are not just symbols, they come with stories.” Lifestyle coordinator Alex said.
The gesture of wearing the bandannas sparked conversation throughout the community, as individuals began discussing their own personal experiences with cancer and the affects that cancer can have on everyone.
To further help the community’s fundraising efforts, the lifestyle team organised a dance performance from the ELS Dance School. Family and friends were invited to attend the performance, and they were encouraged to make a donation.
On a day where a heart-breaking and real illness was prevalent, the beautiful children in the ELS Dance School were able to bring a smile to everyone’s faces through their performance; illuminating the innocence and purity that is still in the world.
