When Beris Evans first moved to Arcare Caboolture it took her a little while to settle in.
Beris didn’t attend any activities, she kept to herself and spent a lot of time in her own room.
The Lifestyle Team at Arcare Caboolture tried to get her to mix with other residents and make her feel like a part of the community.
One day Beris moved to a different table in the dining room where she made a special friend named Fay.
Fay is a very social person who likes to attend lots of activities, her favourite being the movies in the theatre.
Beris started to spend more time with Fay and go to the movies with her.
This soon turned into a daily activity, Fay and Beris attending the movies together, then it evolved to Bingo and many other activities.
Eventually Beris made many friends at Arcare Caboolture but she never forgot about Fay.
Beris would wait outside Fay’s room so they could walk down together when they attended activities.
When Arcare Taigum opened, Beris moved to be closer to her family.
The Arcare Caboolture community was sad to see her go and threw her a going away party with all her friends as well as staff.
Beris is a popular lady and, needless to say, the room was at capacity!
Recently, the Lifestyle Team at Taigum organised a catch up for Beris at Arcare Caboolture.
You can read about the catch up at Arcare Caboolture here.
Beris was delighted to see her friends and had a great morning.
Despite missing everyone at Arcare Caboolture dearly, Beris has now settled in well at Arcare Taigum.
