As September begins, so does Spring, and with the change of season, we find ourselves needing to update our wardrobes and style.
Gone are the days of woolen jumpers, scarves and dark tones, as we say ‘goodbye’ to Melbourne’s cold Winter weather.
We will now say ‘hello’ to more neutral and warm tones as we move into Spring.
This season, I predict that we will see many classic styles reappearing on our streets and on the runway.
White is a very modern and fresh colour, that I think will feature prominently throughout Spring. Silk or satin white garments will stun in Spring. I would suggest incorporating the white trend with a silk or stain camisole, blouse or scarf.
A tailored jacket with matching slacks, trousers or a skirt is always a striking choice. This look can be worn as a business outfit or everyday look, that can be easily transformed for the evening, through the changing of accessories. I find that beige is a particularly flattering colour for this look, as it can be matched with just about anything.
Shades of Spring, such as rust, orange and yellow are always prominent as the temperature starts to warm up. You will start to see more of these colours featured throughout magazine spreads during Spring. Whether worn as a block colour or through graphic prints, these shades will help brighten up your life, as we transition out of the dark and gloomy Winter time.
As these colours can be a bold statement, I would suggest finding garments such as dresses, tops or skirts in these shades, that you can then match with more neutral tones. It is important that you wear these colours, as a juxtaposition to more neutral tones if you want the colour to truly pop.
Sandals will once again be popular in the warmer months, as they are easy to slip on and allow your feet to feel the warm Spring air. I think it’s always important to have a pair of nude and black sandals in your wardrobe going into Spring. Having two pairs of sandals in these colours as staples, will save you a lot of time finding shoes, as they match with most things.
To finish off your Spring wardrobe, find elegant staple accessories to pair with your outfits. A striking scarf, long necklace or eye catching statement earrings can finish off your look and take it to the next level.
I know we are all looking forward to warmer months, getting outside to show off our sense of style.
I hope you look forward to my next style edition, where we will be exploring all of the trends for Summer 2019/2020.
