Arcare Keysborough client, Norman Keeton is a very keen and talented Bridge player.
However, Norman would often find himself looking for fellow Bridge players, to challenge to a game. It was then, he enlisted the help of lifestyle coordinator, Alison, to help find him a suitable opponent.
Lifestyle coordinator, Alison inquired within the Keysborough community to no avail. However, when she reached out to the wider Arcare community, she found that the lifestyle team at Arcare Cheltenham were also looking for a bridge player.
Arcare Cheltenham client, Joe had also been looking for a keen bridge player to challenge him; it was a perfect match.
The two lifestyle teams discussed the connection with Norman and Joe, and the pair were ecstatic to the find out that they finally had a competitor, and enthusiastically agreed to meet.
The lifestyle teams helped bridge the gap between the two men, by making the arrangements for the men to meet in person to play a bridge tournament. Arcare Keysborough took a bus load of keen card players to Arcare Cheltenham for their first game.
The first game went off without a hitch, with the men instantly making a connection with each other, over their strong love of cards.
The men now meet on a regular basis, once a month, for a game of cards, catch-up and a cup of coffee. The location for the game is alternated between the Arcare Cheltenham and Arcare Keysborough residences.
Bridge is a great way to keep your mind active, whilst promoting meaningful social interaction, and strengthening communication and teamwork skills.
