To celebrate Valentine’s Day, all dining rooms and Nurses’ stations at Arcare Helensvale St James were beautifully decorated by the Lifestyle team.
The craft group had a lot of help from volunteer Michelle, Ethel Gill, Irene Brown, Betty Stephens and Bette Bowman who cut out paper hearts while the rest of the craft group helped to decorate them.
This was a working project that lasted for a couple of weeks leading up to Valentine’s Day. Clients and team members were asked to help by choosing a favourite photo of themselves, their sweethearts or family, and to bring it along as all the photos would become part of a display in the Dining Room areas.
They engaged in conversation with other clients, team members, families, and students from Griffith University who were on placement. They also enjoyed listening to the client’s stories and looking at their photos.
This was a special project to celebrate love and friendship and we needed everyone to help to make it a really wonderful celebration. All our visitors always stop to have a look at these lovely photos.
Nita Ruming said, “Lovely to see all the old photos, I really love looking at photographs.”
The clients really enjoyed telling stories of their memories in the past, and they got to reminisce on the good old days.
Trevor Rix entertained the residents with a wonderful concert of beautiful love songs, including one of our residents’ favourite song, “Could I Have This Dance for the Rest of my Life”.
Clients and team members dressed up for the day in pretty clothes and a lovely lunch was prepared by the catering team.
