Arcare Logan Reserve residents enjoyed a great International Women’s Day celebration. With speeches from resident Beverley Cameron, who was a Country Women’s Association (CWA) Volunteer, about this year’s campaign of embracing equity and what the CWA is about, and how they helped her and countless other women. Arcare Logan Reserve’s very own children’s book author, Linda Woodward, also shared a speech she wrote about women’s suffrages.
The celebration occurred with a high tea and nibbles, including some games of trivia about famous and important women throughout our history. The residents dressed in purple and were also given a purple flower corsage on arrival.
Resident Beverley Cameron very empoweringly said in her speech, “never say ‘it’s too late to do that’ because you will never be too young, too old, or too stupid to do something, so keep dreaming. I enrolled as a mature age student and graduated with a Bachelor Degree of Art and Medieval History. Follow your heart ladies and never listen to those who say you can’t do something!”
“When we embrace equity, when we embrace diversity, and we embrace inclusion. We embrace equity to forge harmony and unity, and to help drive success for all. Equality is the goal and equity are the means to get there. Through the process of equity, we can reach equality.” Lifestyle Coordinator, Mervat Awad shared in her speech.
