People of Arcare

What do you enjoy about your role?

What I truly appreciate about my role as an elderly care assistant is the opportunity to create a nurturing environment where people feel comfortable, safe, and well taken care of. It’s important to me that every individual I assist feels a sense of security and knows that their needs are being met with compassion and respect.

How does this company differ from others you’ve worked for?

Arcare stands out from others aged care facilities I have worked for due to its person-centred approach, focus on promoting an active lifestyle, and a supportive work environment.

There is a wide range of engaging activities and programs available, including physical exercise classes, cognitive stimulation activities, cultural outings, and social events.

What do you love about Arcare and working in Aged Care?

One of the main reasons I love working as a carer is my deep sense of empathy and genuine care for others. I believe that every individual, regardless of age or circumstances, deserves to be treated with kindness, dignity, and respect. As a carer, I have the privilege of making a positive impact on the lives of those who may be facing challenges.

What are your favourite stories of working at your residence / with your team / with a client?

It is truly heartwarming to witness the visits of relatives with the residents at Arcare. Seeing the smiles, hugs, and shared moments between loved ones is a testament to the deep bonds and connections that transcend time. I love to see how these visits provide a sense of comfort, reassurance, and belonging for the residents, knowing that they are still cherished and cared for by their families.

What tips or advice would you give to someone looking to work in Aged Care?

Develop empathy and compassion, working in Aged Care requires working with vulnerable individuals who may have specific physical and emotional needs. Cultivate empathy and compassion to truly understand and connect with residents, treating them with dignity and respect.

What are your hobbies? What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

I love embroidery and gardening.
