People of Arcare

What do you enjoy about your role?

As a Residence Manager, I revel in the opportunity to foster a supportive and engaging environment for both our team, the residents, and their families. I find joy in being a guiding hand, ensuring the well-being of our residents while assisting in their daily life. It’s more than just a job; it’s a constant learning experience that deepens my understanding of people, care, and community.

How does this company differ from others you’ve worked for?

I am impressed with Arcare’s systemic approach to remain organised and provide a supportive work environment. The structural organisation at Arcare is second to none, with well-defined roles, streamlined processes, and a robust infrastructure that ensures smooth operations.

What do you love about Arcare and working in Aged Care?

Arcare’s Relationship-First Approach is what I cherish the most. It’s about truly understanding the individual needs of our residents and providing a quality of life that they deserve. Working in Aged Care gives me the privilege to serve, and seeing the difference we make in the lives of our residents every day is a truly rewarding experience.

What are your favourite stories of working at your residence / with your team / with a client?

There are countless memories that come to mind when I think about my experience working in Aged Care. Every day brings a new tale, whether it’s the sheer resilience of residents, the camaraderie among the team, or the incredible bonds we get to form with residents and their families.

What tips or advice would you give to someone looking to work in Aged Care?

Aged Care is a sector where compassion, patience, and empathy are key. To anyone considering a career in Aged Care, I’d advise them to nurture these traits. Always remember that it’s more than just a job; it’s about making a difference in someone’s life. Be prepared to learn constantly, stay adaptable, and most importantly, put the well-being of the residents at the heart of what you do.

What are your hobbies? What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

Since relocating to the Sunshine Coast, I’ve been making the most of the beautiful weather and stunning outdoors. One of my favourite activities is heading to the beach early in the morning and soaking in the relaxed coastal lifestyle. This change of scenery has certainly been rejuvenating and inspiring. I’m also an avid squash player. The game’s fast pace, strategic elements, and the physicality it requires is what draws me to it. It’s also a good stress buster and a brilliant way to keep fit. I hope the sport will grow again in the future!

Can you share one fun fact about yourself?

Well, I’m the unofficial tech guru among my friends and family. Whether it’s troubleshooting Wi-Fi connections or setting up printers, you’ll find me diving in with enthusiasm. So, next time you’re puzzled by an error message on your screen, feel free to give me a shout. Technology might seem intimidating, but with a bit of patience and curiosity, it’s nothing we can’t tackle together.
