Arcare Parkinson was transformed into a mini-Ekka when the residence was filled with farm animals, lollies and carnival games!
Team members put on their best country-style clothes and got into the festival mood.
Families and friends also came along to meet the animals and do some shopping! There were plenty of handmade crafts by the clients such as clothes hangers, tea towels, bookmarks, shopping bags and more!
There was even a table reserved just for lollies! On the lolly table managed by Zoe, a regular volunteer at Arcare Parkinson, there were jaffas, freckles, marshmallows, fairy floss, toffee apples etc. The perfect place for those with a sweet tooth.
“Fairy floss is my favourite, but I have to make sure I don’t eat too much of it!” Kevin said.
A teddy bear display lovingly put together by the lifestyle team was also displayed in the foyer for everyone to see. Some of the bears were from team members and clients, while some were already reserved for those who had an eye on their favourite teddy bear.
The cupcake competition was also an eye-catching display for everyone! The multi-coloured cupcakes has all types of sprinkles and coloured creams on them. The day before this Ekka event, the clients made their own choice to decorate the cupcakes however they wanted it to be.
When the farm animals arrived, everyone got even more excited as Harmony Hooves Healing Heart has brought along a pony, 5 dogs, goats, chicks and a duck! It’s amazing how well the animals got along with the clients who could not wait to hug them.
There were so many things to do and see at Arcare Parkinson’s Ekka Fun Morning but everyone’s highlight was playing with the animals and giving them a cuddle.
From having this event, we hope to bring back many happy childhood memories of the Ekka for our clients and bring a smile to their faces as they recall the fun they had!
