The Arcare Caulfield community had a visit from a very inspiring lady, who sailed solo around the world.
Jacqueline Hope visited the community to share her childhood dream and story about how she sailed around the world.
Finding a cheap, neglected boat, Jacqueline recruit her friends and family to help her prepare the boat for her solo trip. Jaqueline gave her boat a new name and called it Shanti, which in Hindi language translates to “peace, tranquility and bliss”.
Jacqueline set sail, leaving behind her family, friends and her home. She has mixed emotions about the voyage, as she didn’t know what was ahead.
It took Jacqueline just over three and a half years to complete her adventure, crossing three oceans.
The clients at Arcare Caulfield were in awe of Jacqueline, when they saw the video’s and slides of some of the nasty weather she encountered. The clients were inspired by her story, asking a number of questions and lining up to have their photo taken with Jacqueline.
The Arcare Caulfield community is the first live audience that Jacqueline has told her story to, and everyone in the audience was incredibly appreciative of her honesty and candor.
The clients felt very special to meet and hear the story of one courage’s lady, which bought tears to so many.
