Life at Arcare

What you can expect when you live in an Arcare Aged Care community.

A vibrant life

A vibrant life

At Arcare, we offer a range of opportunities for you to make new friends and learn new things. We design our daily activities, prepare fresh meals on site and provide our ‘Arcare Signature’ offerings to suit your individual needs.

Our goal is to foster an aged care environment where you feel connected, engaged, and can thrive.

Engaging daily activities

Engaging daily activities

When you live in an aged care home like Arcare, you can join a range of daily activities from our innovative lifestyle program. From artistic workshops and gentle exercise through to singing, cooking and education, we have something to suit everyone. We also celebrate and commemorate a range of occasions, such as birthdays, Christmas, ANZAC Day and more.

Each of our aged care homes has a lifestyle coordinator who organises a monthly activity schedule. We can also develop a specific lifestyle plan tailored to you if want to pursue an activity or hobby in a small group or on your own.

See below for an example of what activities may be on offer for residents. Please note that activities may vary at each site depending on the needs of the Arcare community

Delicious meals prepared onsite

Delicious meals prepared onsite

The importance of mealtime can’t be underestimated. Coming together as a community for fresh and nutritious meals is a daily highlight at Arcare. All our residences offer delicious meal options based on personal preferences and nutritional needs.

Our seasonal menu is prepared fresh on site with an abundance of options for all tastes. Our chefs engage with residents when planning menus and receive regular feedback about menu options.

Where you eat your meal is up to you. You may enjoy a private meal in the comfort of your own suite. Or you can come together to enjoy the company of others in our dining room.

See below for an example of one of our Arcare menus. Please note that the menu will depend on seasonal availability and may vary at each site depending on the community’s needs.

Excursions and shopping trips

Our lifestyle coordinators also arrange a variety of shopping and excursion trips as part of the activity calendar. Shopping trips are always a group activity and may include a weekly visit to the local supermarket, markets, or clothing stores.

Each of our Arcare Aged Care homes has an activity program that features various excursions, such as visits to the botanic gardens, the zoo or the movies. Be sure to talk to your lifestyle coordinator about an activity that you and your Arcare community would enjoy.

See below for an example of one of our excursion and activity calendars.

Faith-based services

Faith-based services

We respect your faith and offer services for many denominations in our Arcare aged care homes.

We can also arrange clergy of most denominations to provide pastoral care for you if needed. If your denomination isn’t represented, please talk to your Residence Manager.

Community Engagement Committee

Community Engagement Committee

One important way that consumer advisors are involved at Arcare is through our Community Engagement Committee (CEC).

The CEC is an advisory committee to the Arcare Executive and Board.  It works to provide a voice for the community and consumers in strategic decision making at Arcare.

The CEC responsibilities and membership are outlined in the Committee Terms of Reference. There is a position description which provides more detail about what being a member of the CEC entails. CEC members are unpaid volunteers.

All applications to the CEC are considered on a case-by-case basis through a formal interview process. Applications for the Arcare Community Engagement Committee open as vacancies become available. Registrations are currently closed, however if you are interested in applying, please contact Consumer.EngagementCom@arcare.com.au.
