On Tuesday the 13th of August, Arcare Springwood was lucky to have a beautiful musical performance by Chinese group performing a traditional Chinese instrument, the Guzheng.
The Guzheng looks very much like a vertical harp and is plucked and strummed.
There was a total of 15 performers who entertained us all for over an hour. There were even performers as young as seven years old!
Before each performance, the performance group explained the history and meaning of the Guzheng and the songs to the audience.
It was 4 months ago when Rebecca the lifestyle coordinator came by this group. And today, we finally got to experience their wonderful performance of the traditional instrument.
The music was so beautiful and relaxing that everyone was mesmerised by it.
Rebecca also provided Certificates of Appreciation for all the performers.
Afterwards, the group joined the clients for an afternoon tea provided by the Arcare Springwood kitchen team.
As everyone mingled over the afternoon tea, they continued to be entertained as music flowed through the residence when one of the teachers got up to play on our grand piano.
Through this cross-cultural experience, clients and team members at Arcare Springwood got to experience Chinese culture without even travelling abroad!
This also gives them the opportunity to expand their horizons and learn about the cultural diversity all over the world.
Everyone definitely had a lovely afternoon learning more about a different culture and its musical history.
