Navigating aged care pricing

Aged care pricing encompasses daily care, accommodation and lifestyle experiences. The amount you pay will depend on your financial circumstances.

Before you apply for a residence, you will need to follow a few steps to find out how much you will pay. We’re here to help. We have broken down the process step-by-step.

Taking it step-by-step

Follow these steps to get a better understanding of how much you will pay for aged care.

Take assessment

The first step is to evaluate your care needs and find out if you’re eligible for government-subsidised services. You can apply for an assessment at My Aged Care.

Breakdown of fees

Aged care pricing is broken down into daily fees and accommodation fees.
  • Daily fees

Daily care fees cover the care services at your residence and extra lifestyle experiences.
    • Basic daily care fee: Covers care and support at your residence. It’s set by the Government and is based on approximately 85% of the single Australian-aged pension.
    • Means-tested care fee: Based on an assessment of your income and means.
    • Arcare signature fee: You may add living experiences to your aged care package, which will be added to your daily care fee.
  • Accommodation

Accommodation fees depend on your residence and room type, and paid as a lump sum, daily payment, or a combination of both. Talk to one of our team members about your situation by booking a tour.
    • Refundable Accommodation Deposit (RAD): One-off lump sum payment based on your chosen suite refundable on departure.
    • Daily Accommodation Payment (DAP): A daily fee calculated from the RAD amount at the government’s set interest rate.
    • A Combination Payment: A hybrid of the RAD and DAP. You can pay part of your accommodation fees as a RAD and then the remaining balance through a DAP.

Government Support

The Australian Government provides financial assistance to those who are eligible, ensuring aged care services are accessible to everyone. Your asset and income assessment will determine the level of government support you can receive.

Arcare is part of your community and are here to help. At Arcare we value our place in the community and realise that some people need a hand to get into aged care. For those in financial need, ask about our concessional bed availability. It’s our way of keeping families close to each other, while still offering the highest of care.
