The walkers are now used to less than impressive weather conditions, as they also battled the cold and rain on last year’s walk.
15 clients joined in for the walk plus team members, volunteers, family and friends. Angelica, a client at Arcare Epping, was pleased to lead the way for the group.
Family members of a client from our Hillside Community also joined in the walk. They were there to support their mother who was diagnosed with dementia at an early age. They jumped on board when they found out Epping was hosting their own DIY walk.
During the walk, Michelle volunteered to be the designated traffic controller. Despite some heavy traffic on the roads due to the rain, she managed to hold up the cars so that the large group could get across the road safely.
Everyone cheered when cars driving past would toot their horns and wave, acknowledging them along the journey.
With 16 fundraisers and 63 donations to the Epping fundraising page, an incredible $8,115 was raised in total.
Congratulations to all involved in the wonderful cause.
