Now that Spring is in full swing, our clients from Arcare Glenhaven are keen to get their gardening group blossoming.
It is evident that many of the clients enjoy growing their own plants by the sheer amount of pot plants out on display over the balconies. By creating the garden group, it allows the garden lovers to share their tips and stories to those with similar interests as themselves.
The gardening group allows the clients to work on a garden project together and learn to work as a team. For many of the clients it has been some years since they worked on a team project, so it is something they enjoy being able to share jobs and feel like they are working together towards something exciting.
It came to the attention of the group that upstairs was lacking space for new pots, the only space left was a balcony with no benches which meant everything was to be kept on the floor which was not ideal.
The Lifestyle coordinator took action and contacted the Men’s shed volunteer Tom, to see if he could come to the groups rescue by building them a bench. Tom just so happens to live next door at Living Choice, so he Said he was more then happy to come and help. With the help of the local Dural Men’s shed two new benches were built for the garden club.
Max from the sensitive care unit came out to help Tom put the frames together and Betty from the gardening club also came out to give a helping hand as a thank you.
