Arcare Glenhaven client Joan has always loved music and musical theatre and a passion of hers throughout her life. When Joan moved into the retirement village Living Choice 13 years ago, she decided that she would start a choir. In the first year the choir grew at such a rapid rate that they were large enough to start performing for other aged care facilities in the Hills Shire district.
Earlier this year in June, Joan made the decision to move into Arcare Glenhaven which is right next door to her previous home at Living Choice. It was with a heavy heart when Joan explained that she would no longer be able to lead or take part in the choir to lack of energy. The decision was made easier though knowing that the choir Joan had poured so much time and energy into was being left in the very capable hands of Joan’s dear friend Anne.
Many of the choir members visit Joan weekly to keep her updated about the group and what they are up to and to ensure her things are still running smoothly.
As Christmas is only around the corner the Glenhaven Lifestyle team decided to surprise the clients and especially Joan with a performance from the Living Choice Choir to sing Christmas carols.
Joan was thrilled and sat herself in the front row and couldn’t wiat for her new friends at Arcare to experience this amazing group. As expected, Joan sang along to every song with so much joy.
After the performance Joan took the opportunity to introduce her old friends to her new friends which brought a bright smile to her face. It was a beautiful sight to see and everyone from both Living Choice and Arcare Glenhaven had a wonderful afternoon.
