Client Irene of Arcare Kanwal ’s birthday was fast approaching and some of her lovely friends from her old knitting group decided that they wanted to organise something special for her so, they called a few days prior and organised with the help of Lifestyle coordinator Cristina a special surprise.
The day had arrived, and the whole Lifestyle team were in on the surprise. Lifestyle officer Gloria convinced Irene that she needed to follow her as another client wanted to give her a gift but was unable to make it out of her room.
Irene willingly followed Gloria not thinking anything of it and oblivious to the fact that her friends were now hiding in a separate lounge room.
Gloria directed Irene into the lounge room where her face lit up, a smile from ear to ear. It was a beautiful site. Irene’s friends all wished her a Happy Birthday and gave her flowers and cake.
The group spent the best part of the afternoon together chatting, laughing and talking about old memories. As the afternoon drew to an end, Irene told the group ‘I was sad this morning as none of my friends called to wish me a Happy Birthday (as they normally would) and I thought that they must have forgotten me. I am now really happy that I got to spend my special day with you all though’.
Happy Birthday Irene!
