Arcare Aged Care Community Stories – April 20 to April 26
April 20 – Arcare Glenhaven – Marie’s surprise care package
Marie at Arcare Glenhaven recently received a special care package from her family who wanted to do something to brighten up her day.
Marie loves the colour purple and butterflies so the family sent a large butterfly balloon and two large purple and pink love hearts.
‘I feel so special and very loved by my family, they are very sweet for sending me these special balloons!’ she shared with us.
April 22 – Arcare Glenhaven – Camo for Wacky Wednesday
This week at Arcare Glenhaven, clients and team members dressed up in camo for the Wacky Wednesday theme, leading up to ANZAC day.
Some of Arcare Glenhaven’s clients are men and women who have served in the armed forces or have had partners who served, so they all thought it was a great theme for this week.
April 23 – Arcare Oatlands – Pen pals with Headstart Preschool
During this time of preventative lockdown, the clients at Arcare Oatlands have been missing their weekly visits from our little pre-school friends at Headstart Early Learning Oatlands. So they decided to become pen pals!
The Lifestyle team thought it would be a great idea to create a Book of Memories and write notes to the children.
In return, the children have drawn beautiful pictures and written notes on the back for the clients, who were delighted to receive the gorgeous messages.
‘This is just precious; I miss them so much!’ Doreen said.
The joy and laughter the young children’s letters and pictures bring to the clients is beautiful to witness.
We look forward to sending more notes back and forth with the children and to ensure this beautiful connection is not lost.
‘I can’t wait to see their happy faces again and give them a big hug,’ Nancy shared.
April 23 – Arcare Kanwal – Bird houses and bird feed for Earth Day
To celebrate Earth Day, the clients at Arcare Kanwal decided to make a bird house and some bird seed feed for the birds around the residence.
The women focussed on making the bird seed feed while the Men’s Group got started on constructing the bird house.
‘I can’t wait to see what birds we attract once we have the bird seed in place,’ Margaret Munday said.
April 23 – Arcare Kanwal – Mandala Sand Art
The craft group at Arcare Kanwal have been busy trying out new craft activities during the preventative lockdown. Their latest project is Sand Art!
The clients choose Mandala sand art as it represents the universe, the idea that life is never ending and that everything is connected.
