On Saturday 10th February, the Parkview Malvern East (VIC) and Glenhaven (NSW) Community hosted a Community Market Day with over 300 guests at each venue enjoying free workshops, perusing market stalls and tasting local produce.
While refreshing with an iced tea or iced cream, guests wandered through the courtyard and looked through the beautiful wares, clothing, jewellery and candles that were on offer.
At Parkview Malvern East, SisterWorks – an organisation that supports female refugees and asylum seekers – had their handmade items for sale, including wooden cooking utensils, tea towels and aprons.
At Glenhaven, guests had the opportunity to attend a tapestry workshop, Sierra Leonean story telling, plus peruse prints from Welcome Studio where all proceeds to go refugees and asylum seekers.
For those wanting more information about aged care, clients and team members from both communities discussed their own personal experiences.
A highlight was the free flower arranging workshops run by Wildflower & Twig in Melbourne and JLC Floristry in New South Wales. The residences were filled with colour as guests walked around with their own DIY posy.
Starting their weekend off completely zen and pampered, guests also enjoyed taking part in seated yoga/meditation workshops and getting their nails done for free.
