For this week’s series of #PeopleofArcare we introduce Arcare Logan Reserve’s Administration Officer, Shannon Wilson. She commenced at the facility one week after it opened and so has now been in the role for over a year.
What do you enjoy about your role?
It’s a versatile role, I enjoy working under pressure and setting myself goals to accomplish each day. I enjoy the fact that I work with a great bunch of amazing women.
How does this company differ from others you’ve worked for?
A lot more personable and structured.
What do you love about Arcare and working in Aged Care?
The Arcare values and the fact that I get to provide some support to the residents and family members, very rewarding.
What tips or advice would you give to someone looking to work in Aged Care?
Know your role and try to find yourself a mentor that has good habits and learn as much as you can from them.
What are your hobbies? What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
I love spending time with my family during the weekends. I enjoy watching my sons footy games and catching up with a friend for a good coffee.
What is your special talent that you enjoy doing outside of work? How did you learn this talent?
I wouldn’t say I have any special talents, however when I was younger, I did represent my country (Zimbabwe) in swimming for a few years.
