Arcare Peregian Springs had a visit from the Peregian Springs State School’s Grade One choir.
45 little Grade One students came to sing, dance and talk to the clients.
They spent an hour together and you could just see the smiles of enjoyment on all their faces.
The children exchanged names and their interests, creating long-lasting friendships from there.
Some of the students and clients were even holding hands or sitting on the clients’ laps as they got to know each other.
Everyone was taking such a genuine interest in what they do and what they have done.
When it was time to say goodbye, the children thanked the clients at Arcare Peregian Springs for inviting them and waved goodbye to them.
Everyone had such a great time interacting with one another and making new friends.
After the students had left, the clients were talking about it to each other and many of them were saying how lovely it was to chat to the students.
Here at Arcare Peregian Springs, we believe in creating opportunities for intergenerational friendships.
Friendships help to bridge the age gap where both generations can openly learn from each other.
The students from the Grade One classes visit every second week and spend time reading, doing puzzles and playing games.
These are precious, little moments for the students and clients.
