Arcare Aged Care Community Stories – April 20 to April 26
April 20 – Arcare Pimpama – Armchair travel to Spain
The clients in Arcare Pimpama’s Doherty community traveled to Spain with Armchair travel! Together, we had a quick talk about Spanish history, climate, food, culture, music and dance. This was followed by a quiz, fun facts and a YouTube video of some of their famous architecture.
Marjorie who does not attend craft stayed back and enjoyed painting. She said, ‘I am so used to reading the newspaper at this time, it feels good to do something different.’
April 20 – Arcare Springwood – Working together on puzzles
Clients Maggie, Helen and David at Arcare Springwood enjoyed an afternoon of puzzles. They put their minds to work as they worked together to finish it.
April 20 – Arcare Eight Mile Plains – Joan’s 92nd birthday
Joan Thomas at Arcare Eight Mile Plains celebrated her 92nd with a birthday window visit from her family. With colourful balloons on her wheelchair and a delicious cake made by the residence Chef, Joan’s family sang ‘Happy Birthday’ to her and watched her cut the cake.
April 22 – Arcare Taigum – Birthday video wishes
Technology is a great thing. Today was Cath’s birthday and her family did a YouTube video to send their wishes to her at Arcare Taigum.
Cath watched the video while sitting out on the balcony where she had already received numerous phone calls and a balcony visit. While watching the video, she thanked each family member that sent a message and blew kisses to them as well. What a wonderful way to celebrate a birthday in these different times!
April 22 – Arcare Parkinson – Where’s Wally?
Team members and clients at Arcare Parkinson dressed up for today’s ‘Where’s Wally?’ theme.
The dress-up theme days are intended to bring smiles to people’s faces and to have a bit of fun during the preventative lockdown period.
And wearing our red and white striped tops with our black-rimmed glasses, we all certainly achieved that while looking the part!
April 22 – Arcare St James – Fluffy slippers
Clients at Arcare St James held a quiz competition about this day in history which included songs by Elvis Presley, the Blues Brothers and Madonna. Beryl and Derek won the competition and received a pair of fluffy slippers!
April 22 – Arcare Pimpama – Pyjama Day
We had Pyjama Day at Arcare Pimpama and it was a funny sight to see for clients as team members came to work in their pyjamas, but it brought smiles to their faces.
April 23 – Arcare North Shore – Choice of activities
The preventative lockdown is still in full swing here at Arcare North Shore however, this doesn’t stop the clients from enjoying some of their favourite hobbies!
The Lifestyle team have set up a number of tables around that hold a number of exciting things. From board games to puzzles, to two-person card games and crafts, the clients can even enjoy a cup of coffee and some knitting as the materials are stationed at every table.
Some of the ladies of Arcare North Shore have already taken full advantage of the activities on offer. Over the weekend, they harnessed their creative abilities by decorating and creating some fantastically stunning masks.
April 23 – Arcare Peregian Springs – Ralph and Trish’s friendship
Ralph usually has an afternoon nap in the residence of Arcare Peregian Springs, but when Ralph was informed by Lifestyle Coordinator Di that he had an admirer who wanted to talk to him, he wondered who it was.
Ralph was smiling from ear to ear when he saw his very good friend of four years, Trish. They have known each other for four years, ever since Ralph moved into the residence.
Trish is one the many entertainers here at Arcare Peregian Springs who has been with us from the start. Ralph and his late wife Doreen, like many of the clients, have developed great friendships with our long-term entertainers.
April 24 – Arcare Hope Island – Four Anzac Day Services
Four separate ANZAC Day Services were held at Arcare Hope Island today, with the Order of Service prepared by Charles Hulson from the Caulfield RSL Sub-Branch. Clients watched the YouTube service and paid their respects to the soldiers.
