May 5 – Arcare Eight Mile Plains – Singing classes and Dominoes
The Lawson community at Arcare Eight Mile Plains participated in a singing class.
Arthur, a new client at the residence was excited to exercise his vocal cords and showcase his singing skills to all of us.
He sang beautifully and was smiling from ear to ear as everyone joined in to sing with him.
Many clients also had a go at singing and were requesting for songs that they enjoy listening to.
May 6 – Arcare St James – Book Sculpting
Clients at Arcare Helensvale St James were keen to try something new and different.
So, Lifestyle Coordinator Adel introduced an interesting activity – Book Sculpting!
Doreen and Lee both enjoyed sculpting their books, even though they had never heard of this activity before.
Concentrating hard on achieving the 3D diamond-head arrow, they began their book-sculpting session by carefully folding and aligning the pages.
‘I have not done something crafty in the last 20 years, so my daughter will be surprised to know that I learned something new at the age of 94!’ Lee commented.
May 6 – Arcare Parkinson – Grandma Day for Mother’s Day
To celebrate our beautiful mums and grandmothers, we dressed up for our ‘Grandma Day’ theme at Arcare Parkinson.
The clients thoroughly enjoyed seeing team members dressed up in curly haired wigs, glasses and cardigans.
We also talked in detail about our mums and shared the stories they once told us and their words of wisdom.
May 8 – Arcare St James – Celebrating Fred’s birthday
We celebrated Fred’s birthday with balloons, cake and singing at Arcare St James! He has never had so many people sing to him individually and in a group.
But he also had one other special request, which was for Lifestyle Coordinator Adel to sing Happy Birthday in Afrikaans, which she thoroughly enjoyed doing!
Big cheers were followed and Fred thanked everyone for one of his best birthdays!
