The visit from some furry friends at Arcare Maroochydore brought back many memories for residents, especially for Pat.
Pat lived on farms for a large portion of her life. She was from a family with six boys and five girls. When her brothers left home, it was up to the girls to share the workload, getting up at 3am to bring the cows in, taking lassie the Kelpie to help.
Pat distinctly remembers walking the four miles home from school to feed the calves.
She spent the seven pounds for a month’s work, on going to the theatre and dances, as well as buying ‘Home Journal’ which came with a free pattern inside. Pat’s mother used to teach her sewing and dressmaking using these patterns.
