Arcare Springwood History: Built on old Bowls Club

Before Arcare Springwood came to be, it was an old Bowls Club visited by many regulars.

A newspaper article from the 1973 Albert News celebrates its first games at the new Springwood Bowls Club. It certainly was a big event with over 100 bowlers playing on the new green over the weekend.

“I joined the club in 1975 and was a member until it closed. I was on various committees at times, where I was secretary for a couple of years, then made a Life Member and later became the last Patron of the Men’s Club,” Michael recollected.

Michael Tucker was an avid player at the Springwood Bowls Club and frequented the club regularly with his friends. He is currently a member of the Springwood RSL.

A recent image of the Bowls Club shows its developments for the purpose of further improving the club’s quality and catering to the increase in new players and members.

In 2018, when construction began to make way for Arcare Springwood, the builders found something very special – an original bowl and jack.

To preserve the history of the Bowls Club that Arcare Springwood is built upon, Manager Amie requested to keep the historically significant lawn bowls as memorabilia in the new residence.

Now in 2019, the lawn bowls are proudly displayed in one of the residence’s spacious lounge rooms.

It is important for clients to cherish these memories because it allows them to relive the most beautiful part of their lives any time they want.
