Government-funded home care package guide
At any time throughout this process you have a question, give us a call and we will work with you so you can start receiving a government-funded home care package.
Eligibility for a home care package is determined by the Government’s Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT). To check your eligibility or book an assessment, please call 1800 200 422 or visit www.myagedcare.gov.au
When you call them, they’ll ask you some questions and set up a time to visit your home to complete an assessment. The assessment will determine the level of support you require.
When you give them a call, let them know that you’re interested in receiving in-home services through Arcare.
There is currently strong demand for home care package assessments, and a waitlist may apply. The Aged Care Assessment Team will be able to provide more information around the waitlist timeframe when you call.
While you’re waiting for the home care package assessment, this is when you can start researching the different in-home providers and the services they offer to identify which one aligns with your goals, desires and needs the most.
You may need some in-home support before your assessment has been completed, and we can provide privately funded services while you’re on the waitlist for the assessment.
Once they have completed the assessment, they will contact you and let you know the package level that you are eligible for from their assessment.
Level 1 and 2 home care packages have been created for those who require low level support while level 3 and 4 home care packages help those who require high level support.
Your package level will determine the amount of funding you will receive from the government for your package.
Once they have finalised all of the paperwork, you’ll be able to start receiving services through your home care package.

We’ll start this part of the process by setting up an in-home consultation where one of our Care Consultants will initially visit and meet with you to discuss how we can help and support you.
They will be able to provide a superior level of guidance and support so you can receive the support you need to live how you would like to live. They will also explain the finances and costs involved for a home care package.

After the in-home consultation, we’ll prepare your personalised support plan and identify potential support team members that we think will match with your needs and personal preferences.
You have choice in nominating team members that best suit your needs and personal preferences.
We’ll contact you to discuss Step 5 and make any changes based on your feedback and requests.
Once we’ve finalised your support plan and determined the day and time you would like to receive the services, we’ll schedule this in and the services can commence.
