It was just another day when the clients at Arcare Eight Mile Plains decided to go on a shopping spree!
As they got onto the Arcare bus, there was much chatter and laughter as everyone talked about what was on their shopping lists.
The first stop was their local Coles! Joan went down the many different aisles looking for her favourite foods, snacks and drinks.
It was not very crowded and the aisles were nice and spacious for Joan and her wheelchair.
Joan was on a mission as she held on to her reusable bag and zoomed down the spacious aisles!
Going to Coles is a tradition and daily routine for many Australians. From buying groceries on a weekend to grabbing that emergency chocolate bar, Coles brings back many wonderfully simple memories for our clients.
After they had ticked many food items on their shopping lists, the next stop for them was Kmart.
As the ladies spent some time at Kmart looking at clothes and homeware, Walter was happy to sit outside patiently while the others did the rest of their shopping.
By providing our clients the opportunities to make their own personal decisions and choices on what to eat, drink and wear, it truly gives them a sense of independence and freedom.
This simple outing to the shops may seem normal to us, but to them, it means the world.
