Dulcie’s new role

Dulcie lives at Arcare Taigum and even in retirement she is finding ways to engage with her community through recreation therapy.

Dulcie was a Recreation Officer at an age care facility in Sandgate, prior to her retirement.

During the time, Dulcie completed her Associate Diploma in Community Recreation.

In her role as a Recreation Officer, Dulcie organised Easter hat parades, State of Origin and bus trips for the residents.

Little has changed as you will often find Dulcie joining in on Lifestyle activities at Arcare Taigum.

Dulcie is a creative soul who enjoys painting and knitting and recently received a brand new art set with paints and canvas for Mother’s Day.

Dulcie is also a social lady who enjoys encouraging and bringing out the best in others.

Dulcie has formed a good friendship with her neighbour Brenda who was a registered nurse before her retirement.

Dulcie has been reading the book, Bush Nurses by Annabelle Brayley, to Brenda in the lounge.

Brenda loves catching up with Dulcie and said, “I am really enjoying my friendship with Dulcie, I love reminiscing over the Bush Nurses book and remembering my career as a nurse.”

Dulcie has now offered her reading service to another resident who sits at her table.
