The lifestyle team at Arcare Knox and The Lodge like to form close and personal relationships with each of their clients. Lifestyle assistant, Bec often enjoys catching up with the lovely, Bruce, cracking jokes and swapping stories.
One afternoon, Bruce mentioned how he wanted to go on a bus outing, but not to somewhere that the community had visited before. Bruce requested that the destination needed to be fun and completely different than the typical ‘aged care outing’. Bec promised Bruce that she would research and deliver on his request.
After having a think, Bec remembered how Bruce always talks about the good old happy days, and how much simpler everything was back in the 1950’s and 1960’s. Bec then began researching places that would make Bruce feel like he was being transported back in time, to the good old happy days.
Finally, Bec settled on the perfect place, which happened to be just around the corner from the residence: Fonzie’s Diner.
Fonzie’s Diner is a 1950’s rock and roll diner, which is designed around the diner from the television show, Happy Days.
Bruce was absolutely thrilled when Bec announced where they would be heading for lunch, and was overjoyed to hear that the lifestyle team had even organised his wife, Carol to come along with them.
Walking into the diner, Bruce’s jaw dropped has looked around at the retro fittings and heard the sweet voice of Elvis Presley over the speakers.
“I feel like I’ve gone back in time!” Bruce smiled.
For lunch, Bruce, Carol, Bec and a group of other clients from Arcare Knox, enjoyed the indulgent options on the diner menu such as burgers and milkshakes. However no one wanted to leave after lunch, as they all wanted to stay to reminisce about the good old days and listen to the classic rock and roll songs, that were playing over the speakers and jute box.
