Melva and Bob

Melva and Bob have a relationship that many would yearn for. Married for over fifty years, Bob visits his beloved wife at Arcare Carnegie every day. He arrives in the morning, pops home for a rest at lunch time and is back again in the early afternoon.

While they fondly remember meeting through Bob’s mum, their wedding at the Albion Methodist Church in Brunswick and flying to Tasmania for their honeymoon, the memories that have Melva heartily laughing away are of her backpacking trip around Europe with a girlfriend. ‘It wasn’t done in those days. Especially not by women. But we did it!’ Melva recalls.
