Reneh Latif at our Arcare Oatlands community celebrated her milestone 103rd birthday in March with family and friends – the two most important things in her life.
At her March celebration, there was music and laughter all around; something Reneh has gotten used to as she grew up in an environment with Arabic music and families visiting.
Together with her family, Reneh left Egypt for Australia in 1992 and settled down in New South Wales.
Having a big family is an important part of Reneh’s culture. She had 15 siblings and was the fourth youngest child in her family.
Now, she has three children of her own, five grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Reneh shared with us that she was kept very busy as she took care of her family and did all the cooking at home.
But on Sundays, she would go to church in the morning and visit the Parramatta Leagues Club for a quiet afternoon on the poker machines.
Now in our Arcare Oatlands community, Reneh enjoys a drink at high tea and listening to music.
