Neighbourly visit

Beris, a resident who moved from the Arcare Caboolture community to the Arcare Taigum community, asked if it would be possible to go and visit her friends at Caboolture.

The Lifestyle Team at Arcare Taigum contacted Arcare Caboolture and a date was set for a visit and morning tea.

Even though the weather wasn’t favourable, Beris and six of her new friends from the Arcare Taigum community boarded the bus.

On arrival everyone was warmly welcomed by Sue the Lifestyle Coordinator at Arcare Caboolture.

The ladies were shown to the activity room where all the lovely friends that Beris had made at Caboolture were eagerly awaiting their arrival.

Beris said it was lovely to see her friends again and they even kept her spot at the table.

The morning was spent reminiscing and making new friends.

The visit was a hit with Renie stating it was a lovely morning and Mary said the morning tea was delicious.

The Arcare Taigum community are looking forward to returning the hospitality and hosting a visit from their friends at Caboolture in the near future.

During a recent coffee and chat morning at the Arcare Taigum café, the ladies were discussing the varied names of the Royal Family.

The ladies then moved onto their own names.

Ada explained that she has a unique middle name -Dorine.

The group asked whether it was a family name.

Ada explained that her grandparents owned a race horse with this name and on the day she was born it won a race.

That is why she had Dorine as a middle name.

Jean asked was there a reason the her to be name Ada as it suited her.

Ada explained that she was named after her grandmother.

Ada went onto to say her Grandparents Jim and Ada Cowper owned Townsville race stables and her father was a jockey.
