Old Hands on Deck

You wouldn’t think Sailing would be an activity that is easily accessible to those living in an aged care residence, but the team at Arcare Hope Island have made it possible thanks to the Sailability Program available at the Southport Yacht Club.

Every Tuesday, residents and carers leave with full thermoses and a packed morning tea to enjoy their day out sailing the high seas. And sometimes they’re lucky enough to see dolphins frolicking nearby too.

It’s a great initiative and the Arcare Hope Island community couldn’t think of a better way to start their day.
