Pink Ribbon Day

October was Breast Cancer Awareness Month, an ideal opportunity for the Keysborough Community to raise funds for the wonderful Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre which does amazing work and has treated some in the community.

The community celebrated Pink Ribbon Day with an afternoon tea in the meeting place which saw many dress in pink. Most notably Grahame and Kevin, who stole the show with their wonderful efforts and proving that ‘Real Men Wear Pink’!

Breast cancer remains the most common cancer among Australian women but the good news is that survival rates continue to improve with 89 out of every 100 women diagnosed with invasive breast cancer now surviving five or more years beyond diagnosis.

The community dug deep to raise important funds, with June being the lucky winner of first prize. Everybody who bought a raffle ticket or made a donation had a personalised ornament placed on the Tree of Hope.
