Amrit is part of Ranbir’s personal support team at Arcare Knox. This means that every time Amrit comes to work, she supports the same small group of clients, including Ranbir.
During the afternoons, Amrit will play Ranbir videos and songs on a tablet. They particularly like to play Punjabi folk songs.
Amrit notices how this activity calms and relaxes Ranbir, and the smile on his face while he watches the videos.
Amrit lists the singers and song names to Ranbir and he nods when he recognises them.
Amrit often comments that this activity makes her just as happy as it does for Ranbir.
The volunteers in the Knox Community were celebrated with a morning tea during Volunteer Week.
It was an opportunity for team members and clients to say thank you for their support and friendship.
There are a variety of volunteers within the Knox Community who come from different backgrounds, and have different skills, hobbies, life experience and passions.
Lifestyle Coordinator Jacque said, ‘the joy that each volunteer gives to clients is immeasurable.’
Along with the delicious spread, each volunteer received a personalised coffee with a special message, plus chocolates, a badge and a certificate.
‘Volunteering gives me a lot of satisfaction and it is a part of my life,’ Rev. Paul commented.
‘My husband was a resident at Arcare Knox, so it’s great to volunteer here and catch up with everyone,’ Joyce added.
