Redcliffe adventure

On a warm spring day, clients from Arcare North Lakes hopped off the bus to the cool sea breezes of Redcliffe.

With a refreshing breath of salty air, clients took in their surroundings.

Excitement was heard as clients made their way towards the Teddies ‘n’ Sweets café.

Teddy bears lined the walls, as did interesting Brittish memorabilia, and friendly staff greeted the group.

Most were eager to tuck into warm scones and jam while some took a quiet moment to look around the many items in the café.

One resident took the opportunity to pick up a teddy bear book and read it to another resident who has a vision impairment.

After a delightful morning tea, the group made their way over to Bee Gees Way.

Bee Gees Way is described as a ‘multi-media mini outdoor museum’ that honours Redcliffe’s most famous former residents.

Clients sung along to some of the Bee Gees biggest hits and everyone was happy to pose with the life-size brass memorial.

When the adventure at Bee Gees Way was complete the group ventured around the corner and much to many clients delight there was an op shop.

Many grabbed a bargain to take home with them, a 50c novel or a lovely new blouse, before heading back on the bus.

Lots of chatter could be heard at Arcare North Lakes on the morning of Melbourne Cup.

Fresh flowers and decorations were displayed across the lounge rooms ready for the race that stops the nation.

Clients were prepped and ready with a glass of bubbles as the race kicked off.

Some cheered, some clapped and some provided helpful advice like ‘go faster’!

To keep the party going everyone enjoyed cheese platters and nibbles provided by the chef as well as punch and bubbles that were a crowd favourite.

After the race the crowd made their way over to get their photo taken with their best friends in the handmade photobooth.
