Celebrating Rita and John’s 63rd wedding anniversary

Rita and John recently celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary with a romantic lunch that was a surprise to them.

Their private lunch included a big bouquet of pink and white flowers, a box of yummy Guylian chocolates, a strawberry chocolate cake, more pink and white balloons and a card filled with well wishes from the Arcare Oatlands community.

As they enjoyed their date, they reminisced about how they met and where they had their first date.

‘I still remember John took me for our first date to the theatre to watch a film called the African Queen,’ Rita shared.

After 63 years of being married together, Rita and John have supported each other through the ups and downs.

‘Rita has been such a wonderful wife to me; we are very lucky to have each other and to have five happy and healthy children,’ John said.

When asked to share what their secret was to a long and happy marriage, Rita responded by saying, ‘Happiness, hard work and pulling together’.
